The Partnership

The Wickham Market Partnership was formed as a company limited by guarantee from a working party of the Wickham Market Parish Council in October 2002. In February 2003 the Partnership attained charitable status. Its principle purpose is to obtain funding and work with various organisations to improve the facilities in Wickham Market and the surrounding communities, which were identified in a “Healthcheck” carried out in 2001 in co-operation with 23 surrounding parishes. So far the development of the centre of Wickham Market by Suffolk Coastal District Council with funds from the East of England Development Agency, Suffolk County Council and the Parish Council has been completed. The Partnership has also helped to provide part of the funding for a skate park and play area. Its main project is the Resource Centre just opened in conjunction with Suffolk County Council. The Partnership has also given matched funding to several other organisations to date.

The Resource Centre

Two bungalows linked by a reception area have now been converted into the new Resource Centre. This conversion was finished on 14th July 2004. The fitting out is now completed, and the new library has opened. The new community rooms will provide interview and meeting rooms for use by various local organisations offering advice, assistance and self-help. The rooms are also available for hire. Suffolk County Council and the Wickham Market Partnership share the new building. The East of England Development Agency and the County Council are funding this project.
