Good Neighbours Scheme

Wickham Market Good Neighbours Scheme
Volunteers will help (free of charge) with all kinds of different jobs, such as shopping, one-off garden tidy-up, look after your pet for a short while when you go into hospital, minor repairs, change a light bulb, help write a letter, visit for a chat. They will also give you a lift although there is a charge of 35p per mile for this service.

Easton Parish Council
A small village approximately three miles from Wickham Market. The beautiful village is famous for its serpentine wall and Easton Farm Park. It is in a conservation area. The Parish Council is committed to preserving and enhancing village facilities for its 300 residents.

Libraries

Wickham Market Library
The village library is now situated in the new Resource Centre next to the Medical centre on Chapel Lane. The library offers a wide range of fiction and non-fiction books for adults and children. There are also some audio books, DVDs, videos and Playstation Games to hire. Opening times are 2pm to 6.30pm Wednesdays and Fridays; 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 4.30pm Saturdays; and 10am to 3pm Sundays. Bookstart Storytime is held on Tuesday mornings from 11-11.30 and the Library is open from 10-12 on that day for self-service, and use of the internet terminals and Suffolk Libraries Direct.

Resource Centre

The Resource Centre
Two bungalows (see photograph) linked by a reception area have now been converted into the new Resource Centre. This conversion was finished on 14th July 2004. The fitting out is now completed, and the new library has opened. The new community rooms will provide interview and meeting rooms for use by various local organisations offering advice, assistance and self-help. The rooms are also available for hire. Suffolk County Council and the Wickham Market Partnership share the new building. The East of England Development Agency and the County Council are funding this project.

Village Halls

Wickham Market Village Hall
The Village Hall is a very well equipped hall providing excellent facilities for the local community. The ground provides a recreational area with a bowling green, football pitch, children’s area (to be updated) and a basketball court. The Area Archive Centre is located onsite, and the Hall itself has one large and one small room suitable for hiring for all occasions.

Pettistree Village Hall
A small community hall located just a gentle stroll away from Wickham Market on Walnuts Lane. Can cater for 60 people seated or 90 for other functions, with a kitchen and access/toilets for people with disabilities. A great place for a small gathering on the edge of Pettistree.
