Good Neighbours Scheme

Wickham Market Good Neighbours Scheme

Volunteers will help (free of charge) with all kinds of different jobs, such as shopping, one-off garden tidy-up, look after your pet for a short while when you go into hospital, minor repairs, change a light bulb, help write a letter, visit for a chat. They will also give you a lift although there is a charge of 45p per mile for this service. For further information telephone 07914 494108.

Wickham Market Library

The village library is situated in the Resource Centre next to the Medical centre on Chapel Lane. The library offers a wide range of fiction and non-fiction books for adults and children. There are also some audio books, DVDs, videos and Playstation Games to hire. Latest opening times are 9.30am to 5.30pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays; 10am to 4.30pm Saturdays; and 10am to 3pm Sundays. Bookstart Storytime is held on Tuesday mornings from 11-11.30.

Wickham Market Parish Council consists of 13 Councillors. Mr Richard Jenkinson is Chairman. They meet on the third Monday of every other month, and the public are welcome to attend. The Resource Centre

Two bungalows linked by a reception area were converted into the Resource Centre in 2004 with funding provided by the East of England Development Agency and the County Council. The building incorporates the library and community rooms linked by an atrium. The latter offers interview, meeting and treatment/therapy rooms for hire to local groups and organisations. All the building shared by Suffolk County Council and the Wickham Market Partnership is suitable for disabled access.

Village Halls

Wickham Market Village Hall

The Village Hall is a very well equipped hall providing excellent facilities for the local community. The ground provides a recreational area with a bowling green, football pitch, children's area, skate park and a basketball court. The Area Archive Centre is located onsite, and the Hall itself has one large and one small room suitable for hiring for all occasions. Pettistree Village Hall

A small community hall located just a gentle stroll away from Wickham Market on Walnuts Lane. Can cater for 60 people seated or 90 for other functions, with a kitchen and access/toilets for people with disabilities. A great place for a small gathering on the edge of Pettistree.
